“OLD ITALIAN NEIGHBORHOOD VALUES” AUTHOR IN NEW VIDEO

Can the traditions from the old Italian neighborhood help us lead more fulfilling lives today?

That’s the question Dr. Stephen DeFelice, author of the book “Old Italian Neighborhood Values”, attempts to address in a new video interview for the TV series “Second Season”.

In Dr. DeFelice’s book, six Italian guys who grew up in the traditional Italian neighborhood in 1950’s Philadelphia meet for dinner to discuss how everything from politics to family, kids and sex have changed over the years.

A medical doctor and chairman of FIM (the Foundation for Innovation in Medicine), a non-profit organization designed to accelerate medical discovery to improve our quality of life, Dr. DeFelice believes that elements from the old neighborhood can alleviate the mental suffering that occurs today due to the erosion of values in modern society.

“We’ve forgotten what values are like,” stresses the lively and controversial DeFelice. “Respect for family and friends, community, keeping your word. These are lost in today’s society and it’s time we brought them back.”

A bottle of red wine and two filled glasses sit on the dining room table as Louise Ventrella, the gracious and poised on-camera host of “Second Season” interviews Dr. DeFelice about his book covering such hot button topics as the separation of the elderly from society, the break up of the nuclear family and women in the work force vs woman as mothers.

Louise believes that the homegrown values outlined in Dr. DeFelice’s book are “a voice you don’t hear very often” and feels that “this video should be required viewing for young and old alike who want to learn about the culture and wisdom of the first generation of Italians growing up in America.”
